Thursday Night Members’ Salon

Do you have specific integral topics that interest you?  Do you want to engage in dialogues on the application and embodiment of Integral Theory?  How can we move towards Integral theory truly serving self and other?

This is an opportunity to get together for deep and interesting conversations on all things integral. Much gratitude to those who participated in the first couple that we held.

Boulder Integral is experimenting in the best format for holding a monthly Integral Salon with the sole purpose of creating a space for deep and interesting dialogue on integral topics. So far we have used the Conversation Cafe format enhanced with the Open Space rules.

The next one we are going to swing the pendulum toward an augmented version of Open Space. So, instead of providing one topic, we ask that you come to the salon with your own topic of interest. We will go around the big circle where you introduce yourself and your topic of interest.  We will then dive deep into a little chaos as people collect around the topics they are most interested in discussing. These small self-organized groups will then gather in comfy spots around Boulder Integral and hold their intimate dialogues. We will close the evening with a brief sharing of the topic that was discussed and anything interesting that came out of those conversations.

So, please come. discuss what you are jazzed about in the integral worldspace.

These events are hosted by Jeff Salzman and Christine Brautigam. We are going to hold 3 more and see how they go. Dates and times are as follows:

May 21st, June 18th, July 16th at 7pm (doors open at 6:30pm)

If you feel moved, please bring snacks or drinks to share.

If this is a beneficial and well-attended membership event, we will continue to hold them on a regular basis. You are welcome to contact Christine at ChristineB@directdynamics.biz if you have additional ideas and recommendations.

Thanks and we look forward to sharing with you and learning from you.

An Integral View of Culture and Politics with Jeff Salzman

Four Tuesdays in a row May 5, 12, 19 and 26
$15 (Members $10)
Doors open at 6:30pm/Event from 7pm – 8:30pm

Tired of the same old arguments and dueling worldviews?   Join us for a look at what  integral theory shows us about our current cultural landscape.  We’ll look at current events, politics, religion, the whole panorama.

An integral view really helps us understand and befriend our world.   It enables us to see — and develop receptors for — the karmic winds that are animating our time, and reveals the essentially positive power of evolution.  That realization alone heartens us, helps us relax and enjoy life, and more freely contribute our gifts.

This event will consist mainly of presentation and commentary by Jeff, as well as time for Q&A.

Intro to Neuro-Linguistic Programming: Personal Change & Effective Communication

Presenters: Mark Andreas & Duff McDuffee

April 28th, 7pm

$15 (Members $10)

Neuro-Linguistic Programming is a body of practical tools for personal change and effective communication.  Join Mark Andreas and Duff McDuffee for an evening of experiential learning centered on how to gently guide your subjective experience towards useful and positive outcomes:

  • Explore the qualities of unwanted emotions and how easy it is to invite them to dissolve or change so that they work for you.
  • Discover the positive purpose of any unwanted feeling or behavior in 5-15 minutes.
  • Learn that your psychological experience has a structure.
  • Have fun learning about how others represent their experience differently.

As we guide you through some simple experiential exercises that you can carry out in the comfort of your own mind, you can have your own experience of how NLP is such a powerful method for gaining what you want in life. You’ll be able to notice how changing the way you think changes your feelings automatically, and how directly changing the way you feel can change the way you experience and act in the world.

These simple changes can have a profound effect, because with NLP you’ll be changing the way your brain encodes experience. When you change these codings, your thoughts, experience, and behavior all change. Because NLP studies how people make sense of the world, it has applications in a wide variety of fields from professional to personal. It is a vast field encompassing interpersonal skills, personal change methods, and processes to discover and teach human excellence in almost every profession and human activity.

Mark Andreas is the son of Steve and Connirae Andreas, who have been developing and training NLP since 1978. For two and a half years Mark worked in wilderness therapy as a counselor/trip-leader for the Monarch Center for Family Healing, where he was in charge of facilitating groups of “troubled” youth on a daily basis both in individual therapy and in group process. Mark completed the NLP Comprehensive Practitioner Training in Colorado in 2006, and worked as one of four facilitators of the same seminar in 2008. Also in 2008 he completed his NLP Master Practitioner Training and began his current private practice working with individuals to achieve a wide range of their goals using the many tools NLP has to offer. Duff McDuffee is a Life Coach who’s had a small private practice for 6 years, with clients in Boulder and as far away as the UK and Brazil. Duff has a wide range of personal experience with various change methods and theories, from the Enneagram at age 12, to Vipassana meditation, to Integral Theory-having worked for Ken Wilber’s Integral Institute. He currently specializes in the Core Transformation process with clients-a powerful method of reaching wholeness through your limitations. Duff is currently working on his official NLP Practitioner Certification, having already studied and practiced NLP on his own for nearly 7 years. Register for Virtual Seminar: Andrew Cohen & Ken Wilber

Saturday, May 9, from noon to 5:00pm EDT
IMPORTANT: Please make sure to click on the Register button below for the time of the broadcast in your time zone
Broadcast live via the web

On Saturday, May 9, spiritual teacher Andrew Cohen and integral philosopher Ken Wilber will lead a LIVE 4-hour seminar together, covering in detail what it means to live a fully integral and evolutionary life.

The entire event will be broadcast live via the internet-and will be made available as an MP3 recording-so you can participate wherever you are. And even if you can’t make it live, you’ll be able to listen to the recording as often as you like after the event.

Cohen and Wilber, known affectionately as “the Guru and the Pandit” in the pages of EnlightenNext magazine, have captivated tens of thousands of evolutionaries around the world with their profound and transformative dialogues on the evolution of culture, consciousness, and enlightenment.

But they’ve never held an internationally broadcast seminar before! Please do take a moment to visit the link below to register or to find out more about this exciting event:

The seminar will give you a rare opportunity to take a dramatic leap forward in your own development-and help you integrate the eye-opening theoretical framework of Ken Wilber and the transformative spiritual insight of Andrew Cohen.

Personally, I’ve never found a more comprehensive philosophy or a more penetrating vision than those that these two pioneering visionaries will be discussing during this 4-hour seminar.

The seminar will be structured in two 2-hour sessions:

During the first 2-hour session, Cohen and Wilber will discuss the path to living a truly integral and evolutionary life-and will offer their unique perspectives on how to surmount the inevitable challenges that we all face along the way.

The first session will be followed by one-hour break, during which you’ll be invited to email us your questions and comments. In the second session, Cohen and Wilber will discuss your submissions-making for a dynamic and interactive exploration of the topics you’re most interested in learning more about.

These two luminaries have never engaged with a global internet audience in this format before, and it will most certainly be an experience you won’t want to miss.

The Integral Art of Writing, Book Release Party and…Burning!

7PM, Wednesday, May 6th
Doors open at 6:30pm
Suggested Donation $5 – $15  or please share some snacks or drinks

On this day, we will also be announcing Boulder Integral’s first Creative Writers’s Group

.

Explore the emotional side of Integral art through the only work of fiction endorsed by both Ken Wilber and Robb Smith.

Reading…

Keith Martin-Smith will be having his official book release party on Wednesday, May 6th at Boulder Integral.  He will be reading from his collection of short stories, The Mysterious Divination of Tea Leaves.

In the course of getting the book published, Keith managed to gather nearly 300 rejection letters (possibly a record), which will be prominently displayed at the party.  After the reading, the letters will be offered up in a bonfire of contempt, or celebration, whichever feels right.

And you can join in all of this too!! We invite you to bring anything YOU would like to offer up into the bonfire – divorce papers, rejection letters, old love letters – to join Keith in an homage to our beige roots…

Endorsements

“This is a profound and deeply felt collection of short stories, highly recommended for those who are looking for intelligence, insight, wit and wisdom…”

~ Ken Wilber, The Integral Vision

“Evoking the exciting, tragic and even seemingly ordinary memories of what it means to be human, Keith Martin-Smith sees into our collective lived experiences and grabs those little nuggets of life that remind us of both our delightful intricacy and noble frailty.”

~ Jeff Salzman, Co-Founder, Boulder Integral

“Like a contemporary Rod Sterling or Alfred Hitchcock, Keith Martin-Smith pierces the placid surfaces of characters we all know — and are.   He has a way of exploding ordinary lives into universes of mystery and heartbreak, and yet ultimate sanity. These people and their stories both haunt and, strangely, comfort me.”

~ Robb Smith, CEO Integral Life

Movie Night: “Young at Heart” (2007)

4/18/09

MOVIE NIGHT: Young at Heart (2007)

Open to all by donation at 7pm

Watch Youtube trailer here

This movie documents the true story of the final weeks of rehearsal for the Young at Heart Chorus in Northampton, MA, whose average age is 81, and many of whom must overcome health adversities to participate. Their music is unexpected, going against the stereotype of their age group, performing songs, for example, by James Brown, and Sonic Youth. Although they have toured Europe and sang for royalty, this account focuses on preparing new songs, not an easy endeavor, for a concert in their home town, which succeeds in spite of several real heart breaking events.
