How can a person find peace, compassion, and even joy, in the face of huge loss that naturally provokes deep sadness, raging anger, and other devastating emotions? Janet and her family lost their son/brother/grandson when he was shot to death last year while defending her. He was only 21, yet already had a deep sense of his life purpose…

Janet will share how her very painful loss has changed her and made her more genuine, more compassionate, and more forgiving. She will illustrate how vulnerability can strengthen a person and deepen their connection to the world. She will attempt not to hide behind academic and analytical frameworks (her professional strengths) since she has discovered that there is extraordinary insight and joy to be gained in coming from a humble place of not knowing.
