11/04/2010: Why We Disagree about Climate Change: An Evening with Prof. M. Hulme & Prof. M. Zimmerman

Join us for an evening with Mike Hulme, an important voice in the too often overheated debate about climate change. He will be joined by Boulder Integral member, Michael Zimmerman, co-author (with Sean Esbjorn-Hargens) of Integral Ecology.

Hulme is professor of climate change in the School of Environmental Sciences at the University of East Anglia, academic home of many leading scientists implicated in the Climategate affair last December. Hulme has publicly criticized his colleagues not only for sopmetimes engaging in unprofessional practices, but also for overemphasizing the importance of the natural science perspective in regard to thinking about climate change. Becoming more focused in our life allows us to better reach our dreams and to manifest our passions. An integrated martial arts practice can help you bring greater focus and discipline to all areas of your life, while learning to create and sustain healthy boundaries in your relationships.

Wednesdays, 6:30-8:30, Oct 6 & 20, Nov 3 & 17, Dec 1, 2010.: The Evolutionary Enneagram, with Renee Rosario of EnneaSight.

This event is held at Boulder Integral.
In this class we will apply the framework of the Enneagram to the principles of Evolutionary Spirituality. When we view the evolution of individual and collective consciousness over time, we see circles of connectedness and caring expanding. The Enneagram is a powerful tool to navigate this expansion of heart and relatedness, and will be our guide as we explore the territory of our type or survival strategies, the Ground of Being, and their interface. How does the impulse to evolve relate to your type? Does it elucidate the potential obstacles to your evolving consciousness? This class is offered in the Narrative Tradition, where class participants share about their experiences, participating as both teachers and students to each other.  Click here for more details.

11/12 – 14: The Enneagram Relationships Workshop, Keys to Understanding Intimate, Familial, Friendship, and Professional Relationships, with Gayle Scott.

Relationships are one of the most rewarding – as well as the most frustrating – aspects of our existence. Whether in intimate or work settings, the quality of our relationships has an enormous impact on the quality of our lives, our livelihood, and even our health. Read more here.

Free Teleseminar Series

What is emerging today at the leading edge of human transformation? How can our spiritual practice help us evolve toward planetary citizenship? Join 27 of the world’s most dynamic spiritual teachers for a groundbreaking series of dialogues.

The standard view of spiritual practice is that it involves meditating, praying, loving your neighbor, and so on. And that’s all absolutely true… and always will be. Intro to Integral Theory and Practice

3 Hour Presentation
Thursday, November 6th, 7 – 10pm

  • Heard about the Theory of Everything?
  • Or evolutionary spirituality?
  • Married to a someone who talks about Ken Wilber and the AQAL models?
  • Or are you just bored to tears with the same old left vs right, good vs bad, yes vs no arguments we hear all around us?

Then check out Intro to Integral Theory and Practice, the class for people who want a quick, efficient download on the coolest new worldview in town.

Integral describes a philosophical system that seeks to include the gifts of all other worldviews:

  • The gifts of science and religion
  • The gifts of the East and the West,
  • The gifts of the Ancients, the Moderns, the Post-Moderns

The goal — and indeed the result — of this integration, is a view and a way of living that is larger, deeper, more flexible and wise. At Boulder Integral we recognize this as a new stage in the on-going evolution of consciousness and human culture, and seek to explore and enact it in our lives. We are pioneering the development of various kinds of integral practices, designed to help people become more aware, in touch, and capable of skillful action.

This three hour class focuses on the key element of Integral theory: evolution. We will show patterns of history that make sense of our human heritage, and also deeply inform and inspire smarter solutions to today’s global challenges. We will also map the stages of personal evolution that starts with each of us at birth, revealing insights, and indeed energetics, that accelerate our personal evolution in real time. Soon we’re surfing the rising wave of Emergence itself!

A Call to Integralists

With our old building spruced up and a fall feeling in the air, we’re moving into a new phase of Boulder Integral with the launch of two new initiatives: 1) the beginning of a Core Curriculum to promote Integral consciousness and functioning, and 2) the launch of a Boulder Integral Membership option for those of you who feel called to join us.

Our goal is to build a community of dedicated integralists, so that we can explore together what it is to live from an evolutionary view. The call is to literally create new territory in the kosmos, or perhaps more accurately, to co-create it with the powers of emergence itself. We see new worlds of sanity, connection, and positive power available to us, and we are eager to claim this territory with other intrepid pioneers. We trust that what we discover will not only benefit us, but the evolving world at large.

The territory is new, to be sure, but we have some really great maps. Ken Wilber’s AQAL maps, especially, reveal enough territory to keep us busy for a long time (thanks, Ken!). For starters, we can assume that an integralists are people who seek to develop themselves more fully within a vibrant “we” space. The “I” perspective and the “we” perspective combine to catalyze transformation in ways that are not possible without the other.

An integral view recognizes that the body is not merely a vehicle for the mind, but is a portal into its own world of energies, karmas and patterns-of-arising. The mere awareness of this allows us to inhabit our own physical and energy territories ever more stably, and to shine them ever more beautifully into the world of other people.

Ah, the world of other people … and things and systems and processes. This is where the real action is for integralists, because there is so much to discover. What emergent properties might arise between people who are enacting integral consciousness? What new capacities of vision-logic and flex/flow are possible?

How can we work with each each other to facilitate making our most authentic contribution to the world?

Or, put another way, what can we do to nudge each experience of our life a little more towards Love?

At Boulder Integral this is our quest, to follow that star no matter how hopeless or far. And we invite you to join us. To that end, we are offering a membership program and the following Fall schedule of programming …

Intro to Integral

Steve McIntosh and Jeff Salzman have put together a three-hour program on the basics of integral theory, and what it reveals about living a life of more goodness, truth and beauty. We’ll be offering this class regularly (see options below), with more advanced classes anticipated.

* Thursday, November 6th, 7pm – 10 pm
* Thursday, December 11th, 7pm – 10 pm

Intro to Integral is offered to the public. It’s a great intro for interested friends and family, as well as a chance for you to get a fresh take on some of the latest integral thinking.

Integral Spiritual Sundays

Give us that new time religion! Or at least come and help us figure out what that might be. * November 16 — Forgiveness
* November 30 — Turning Around
* December 7 — The Birth of the Witness
* December 14 — The Birth of the Child
