A Call to Integralists

With our old building spruced up and a fall feeling in the air, we’re moving into a new phase of Boulder Integral with the launch of two new initiatives: 1) the beginning of a Core Curriculum to promote Integral consciousness and functioning, and 2) the launch of a Boulder Integral Membership option for those of you who feel called to join us.

Our goal is to build a community of dedicated integralists, so that we can explore together what it is to live from an evolutionary view. The call is to literally create new territory in the kosmos, or perhaps more accurately, to co-create it with the powers of emergence itself. We see new worlds of sanity, connection, and positive power available to us, and we are eager to claim this territory with other intrepid pioneers. We trust that what we discover will not only benefit us, but the evolving world at large.

The territory is new, to be sure, but we have some really great maps. Ken Wilber’s AQAL maps, especially, reveal enough territory to keep us busy for a long time (thanks, Ken!). For starters, we can assume that an integralists are people who seek to develop themselves more fully within a vibrant “we” space. The “I” perspective and the “we” perspective combine to catalyze transformation in ways that are not possible without the other.

An integral view recognizes that the body is not merely a vehicle for the mind, but is a portal into its own world of energies, karmas and patterns-of-arising. The mere awareness of this allows us to inhabit our own physical and energy territories ever more stably, and to shine them ever more beautifully into the world of other people.

Ah, the world of other people … and things and systems and processes. This is where the real action is for integralists, because there is so much to discover. What emergent properties might arise between people who are enacting integral consciousness? What new capacities of vision-logic and flex/flow are possible?

How can we work with each each other to facilitate making our most authentic contribution to the world?

Or, put another way, what can we do to nudge each experience of our life a little more towards Love?

At Boulder Integral this is our quest, to follow that star no matter how hopeless or far. And we invite you to join us. To that end, we are offering a membership program and the following Fall schedule of programming …

Intro to Integral

Steve McIntosh and Jeff Salzman have put together a three-hour program on the basics of integral theory, and what it reveals about living a life of more goodness, truth and beauty. We’ll be offering this class regularly (see options below), with more advanced classes anticipated.

* Thursday, November 6th, 7pm – 10 pm
* Thursday, December 11th, 7pm – 10 pm

Intro to Integral is offered to the public. It’s a great intro for interested friends and family, as well as a chance for you to get a fresh take on some of the latest integral thinking.

Integral Spiritual Sundays

Give us that new time religion! Or at least come and help us figure out what that might be. Starting October 5th we’re going to host Integral Spiritual Sunday, a Sunday morning gathering dedicated to trans-lineage inspiration, interaction and celebration. It’s the closest thing to an integral church. Come help us make it happen!

Dates and themes:
* November 2 — Moral development
* November 16 — Forgiveness
* November 30 — Turning Around
* December 7 — The Birth of the Witness
* December 14 — The Birth of the Child

We may keep Integral Spiritual Sundays going into the new year — we hope so! — but we are committing to the schedule above, and will evaluate as we go.

  • 9 – 9:45 am: Group meditation in the Meditation Hall, combines teaching, guided processes and silent space.
  • 10 – 11:30 am: Homily, group process and discussion led by Ross Hostetter and Jeff Salzman. Stuart Davis will join us to provide music.
  • 10 – 11:30 am: Child care will be provided starting at 10 am.
  • 11:30 – noon: Social time.
